Two years ago, Jean-Paul Rioux was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. “We were silent for several days,” recalls his wife, Myrna. “The initial shock was overwhelming, we were simply unable to think clearly.” Since then, Mr. Rioux has vowed to remain as physically and intellectually active as possible. The retired chemistry teacher practices gymnastics, speaks English and Spanish fluently, is learning Italian, and often takes the city bus by himself. The couple hopes to welcome hundreds of people on May 25, and walk together proudly towards a cure!
